My husband chose Peace and Plenty after a search on the internet. It was our honeymoon and we thought we would try a Bed and Breakfast so this was our first! It was absolutely wonderful! The room was clean, quiet and cozy and the bed was so comfortable. The antiques and decor of the parlor, dining room and our room were breathtaking! Glenna was an absolute wonderful host. I got so use to waking up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee and breakfast and I so missed that when I returned home. The location was great right in the center of downtown and the trolly buses. We would defintely visit again.

Glenna is such a wonderful host and the Inn is spectacular. This was our second stay. We have stayed in B&B's in Scotland, and many US areas and the P&P ranks at the top! Take a carriage ride from the front porch & make it a romantic getaway.

The building is quaint, beautifully furnished with modern amenities. We loved our room - lots of space. The breakfasts were to die for. I said to Glenna, our hostess, " This looks like a work of art". And it was delicious to eat.

St Augustine, as the oldest city in Florida and perhaps the US, is well worth a visit to immerse in the history of the spanish and English settlers.

We highly recommend Harry's restaurant, which was recommended to us my Glenna.

I did not like the rattling tram ride around the city but It has the advantageous of getting an overall impression quickly.
I was pleasantly surprised they had a free Wifi.

The winery tastings was a nice cool (original meaning of cool) break.

This was our first stay in a bed and breakfast and thanks to the wonderful experience we had it surely will not be our last! The Peace and Plenty Inn is a must stay in St. Augustine with beautiful gardens, fantastic period decor, the greatest Key Lime pie I've ever tasted, delicious breakfasts, an amazingly comfortable bed and the relaxing whirlpool tub I was ready to move in. We stayed here in September 2008 for 3 nights for my birthday and got engaged on a romantic horse & carriage ride in St. Augustine. This Inn is on a side street away from the main area, but just a short walk away. We had a wonderful experience at the Inn. We stayed in the Carriage House in the Rhapsody Suite which is a beautiful room with a canopy bed, huge kitchen with a full size fridge, electric fireplace, and jacuzzi tub with a stained glass window in the bathroom. The room itself does not have much extra room for walking around, but we fell in love with everything else about the room so it didn't bother us. The breakfast was amazing... one of the best from all the B & B's we've stayed at. There was a mini-fridge in the parlor that was stocked with beer and wine, help yourself at anytime. There was port, sherry & a dessert left out in the evening. They had the best carrot cake one night! We would definitely recommend this inn for a wonderful stay in St. Augustine. This Inn is also less expensive than many of the other ones that we looked at in St. Augustine, but it doesn't skimp on service or amenities at all... definitely a great deal!

Peace and Plenty was an excellent B&B in the middle of St Augustine. It was easy to walk to everything. The hosts make you feel very much at home with great rooms, great food and lots of extras - tea, wine, sherry, cake, and a help yourself bar for drinks and snacks.

This was our second visit to the Peace & Plenty Inn in a year and we were even more thrilled with our visit this time than last time. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Remarkable value, charming, quiet, peaceful, everything you could want and more in a b & b.

Glenna, the innkeeper, is very cordial and gracious while never being overly fussy or overly attentive. She make amazing breakfasts and serves them with a warm smile and then leaves you to enjoy the serenity of the inn in peace. There are drinks (port/sherry/beer/wine/water/tea/coffeee) and cakes in the parlour every evening which are a wonderful little treat after a tiring day of sightseeing.

The Jacuzzi tubs in the rooms were the original reason we booked here and we just love having this amenity! What a treat it is to soak your body in a warm jacuzzi tub after a long day walking around beautiful St Augustine.

We will be back again soon and will plan our trip around staying at the Peace & Plenty!

Our stay was wonderful and full of hospitality. The breakfasts were delicious, and the inn keeper was extremely helpful with recommendations on places to visit and things to do. This Bed & Breakfast is not only clean and pretty, but the food was delicious and the availability of beer and wine and treats made us feel at home away from home and a bit spoiled!
The proximity to the Lightner Museum and the downtown areas make it ideal for moving about without using your car as parking is a pain in downtown generally :)

My husband and I along with our 3 girls and my mohter-in-law booked 2 rooms at the B&B. We had a wonderful time! The hostess, Glenda, was very accommodating and warm. The Peace and Plenty was clean, and had more ammendities than I was expecting for a B&B. The bathrooms were updated and the rooms were quiet (sometimes in B&Bs, I have experienced noises from neighboring rooms). Our children were divided between the two rooms and they were safe to go from room to room quietly. The home is so beautiful and my mother-in-law was greatly pleased. The breakfast was perfect and my children also enjoyed it very much. Also, in the evening, dessert and sherry or port was available from the local winery. This was especially nice for my mother-in-law and my husband and I because we had the chance to talk about our day while sipping wine and having a little dessert . The location was perfect to visit the historic places nearby. I would highly recommend it for a honeymoon, retired couples, and families with children. My children are 11, 9 and 7.

We stayed at the Peace and Plenty Inn last month and highly recommend it! The hostess was so kind and we just thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The evening treats were so nice and the breakfast was so beautiful and delicious... I traveled with our children and we all had a very special stay. The innkeeper took time to help us find a theater in the newspaper and to converse with us about different things to do. The children enjoyed playing with the innkeeper's huge Golden Retriever:) We are grateful for the sweet memories of our overnight stay in St. Augustine!

It is a PGA TOUR Champions Tour event offering weeklong events for fans. The Handa Cup, the Official Legends Tour of the LPGA, is played on the Slammer & Squire golf course on December 5th and 6th at World Golf Village. Best Surfing spots in St. Augustine

We're avid surfers and water sport enthusiasts at the Peace and Plenty Inn and have been surfing the breaks for years. Winter is the best time for waves but there can be great summer swells depending on conditions and storms. We recommend:

St. Augustine Beach Pier - Anastasia Island: Tends to get a bit crowded on good days but is wealth worth it.

Anastasia State Beach Park: Just up the way from the pier on Anastasia Island, the park offers great campgrounds and interesting historical information as well. There is a small fee for entrance but the waves are better in some spots here than most others.

Vilano Beach Point: Just on the other side of the big bridge to Vilano north of town.

A-D Streets: South of the pier near the Oasis cafe. The section of beach south of the pier is hit and miss but is worth checking.

For daily surf reports, check out http://www.blueskysurfshop.com/report/ for info. Blue Sky Surf Shop, Aqua East and Surf Station can also point you in the right direction. Happy Hunting!

About the Innkeepers - The Terrell Family

Restoration of historic Victorian homes runs in the blood of the Terrell brothers, the current owners of the Peace and Plenty Inn Bed and Breakfast in St. Augustine, Florida. You could say they were not born with a silver spoon in their mouths but rather a hammer. The Peace and Plenty Inn is the seventh home they have lovingly restored from the ground up. As the product of a military family, the four boys were constantly on the move. Every four years the Terrell family embraced a new location as well as a new restoration project.

This isn't to say that the boys didn't already have a full plate. The oldest of the four, Court, was simultaneously attending law and business schools after his service in the Army as an Officer. He is a graduate of Princeton University and a practicing attorney. Clay, the second oldest, was attending Florida State University at the time. He is now the General Manager and a former Marine Officer and aviator. Chris is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. His interest in the boys' several restoration projects led him to earn a degree in Architecture. He is a former Army Officer and helicopter pilot and designs historical improvements whenever possible. Casey, the youngest of the four, is a West Point graduate and former Armor Army Officer. He currently is the Inn's Marketing Manager.

The Castillo de San Marcos - tour and fort information

The Castillo de San Marcos is a Spanish built fort located in the city of St. Augustine, Florida, United States. It was known as Fort Marion from 1821 until 1942, and Fort St. Mark from 1763 until 1784 while under British control. The city of St. Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565. Over the next one hundred years, the city was defended by nine wooden forts. Following the 1668 attack of the English pirate Robert Searle, it was decided by the Queen Regent of Spain, Mariana, that a masonry fortification be constructed to protect the city. In October 1672 construction began on the fort that would become the Castillo de San Marcos. The Castillo is a masonry star fort made of a stone called "coquina", literally "little shells", made of ancient shells that have bonded together to form a type of stone similar to limestone. Workers were brought in from Havana, Cuba, to construct the fort. The coquina was quarried from Anastasia Island across the bay from the Castillo, and ferried across to the construction site. Construction lasted twenty-three years, being completed in 1695.

Operating Hours & Seasons:
The Castillo de San Marcos is open to the public from 8:45 AM to 5:15 pm every day of the year except December 25. (The ticket booth closes at 4:45 pm.) The Park grounds are closed from midnight until 5:30 am.
Visitation is lowest from the middle of September through late November.
Visitation is highest June through Labor Day, and quite high on summer and holiday weekends when an average of 3500 people visit the Castillo daily.
School group visitation is quite high February through May. High visitation can also be expected during the December holidays, and March through April.

Fees:
The Castillo de San Marcos is considered to be a "walk-in" park. The entrance fee applies to each individual.
Adults (Age 16 and above) entrance is $6.00 – valid for 7 days.
Children (age 15 and under) are admitted free of charge but must be accompanied by an adult.
The Golden Access and Age Passports; the Castillo Annual Pass; and the Interagency Access, Annual, and Senior Passes are honored for free admission in accordance with the terms specified on the card.[caption id="attachment_46" align="alignleft" width="800" caption="Castillo de San Marcos"]Castillo de San Marcos[/caption]
